Hello Hope House of Sedona supporters,
I trust you have enjoyed your summer, in spite of the heat and dry weather we have been enduring. Behind the scenes, work on Hope House continues. We have not heard anything from HUD since we submitted our application at the end of May and we are taking that as a positive sign that everything was in good order. We are certainly proceeding with that intent!
We are now officially an AZ corporation and have our EIN number! The application to become a separate 501(c)(3) is in the works.
Our fundraising team had another productive training session with Alice Ferris from GoalBusters in Flagstaff. Alice has been amazing in donating her time and talents to help us launch our fundraising efforts. Our goal is to raise an additional $50,000 by the end of the year. All donations are welcome and can be sent to The Church of the Red Rocks, 54 Bowstring Dr. Sedona, 86336. Just put Hope House in the memo line.
Last month we made a visit to Save the Family in Mesa. They are a large organization serving the homeless since 1988. They started with 2 2-bedroom units and they served 10 families during their first year. At the end of the 2nd year, they had 10 units and served 40 families. Last year, they housed 688 families with an 85% success rate to permanent housing in a year. The people with whom we met were extremely helpful and encouraging. They felt we had accomplished a lot in 9 months.
We have continued to distribute Bombas socks to agencies serving the homeless. We sent them a picture on Facebook to express our gratitude for their generosity.
We are meeting with different manufactured home vendors to see who has what will best fit our needs – both financially and design wise! We are required by the grant to get 3 bids.
We also continue to meet with the City to iron out many details. They have been very helpful and supportive in guiding us.
In mid-October we will have a volunteer appreciation luncheon for those hard-working volunteers who have been with this effort from the beginning and without whom Hope House would not be happening.
Many of you reading this newsletter have signed up to be a part of one or more task groups. We have not forgotten you! If you have not heard from us, it is only because we have not reached the point of needing your services. We are still consumed with the basics. When we reach the point of activating your particular task group, you will be contacted.
Unfortunately, we have not made much headway on our web site. We hope to have a new person working on it in a few weeks. We will keep you posted on that.
Thank you for your continued support and interest in serving the most vulnerable in our community.
